Fedora, OpenSuse betas embrace GNOME 3.2

Betas from the the OpenSUSE and Fedora Linux distro projects have been released with GNOME 3.2 desktops. The Fedora 16 (“Verne”) beta also adds support for the GRUB2 bootloader and cloud enhancements, while the OpenSUSE 12.1 (“Asparagus”) beta moves to Systemd, and adds Btrfs file-system support.

Fedora 16 released with GNOME 3.2, virtualization enhancements

The Fedora Project released Fedora 16 (“Verne”), featuring GNOME 3.2, as well as virtualization and cloud enhancements including Aeolus and OpenStack integration. Fedora 16 upgrades to Linux 3.1, the GRUB2 bootloader, and Firefox 7.0.1, while offering improved system settings, plus enhanced contact and document management apps.

Fedora 15 alpha debuts GNOME 3, adds cloud appliance builder

The Fedora project released an alpha version of Fedora Linux 15 (“Lovelock”), debuting GNOME 3 and its new GNOME Shell UI layer. Fedora 15 features KDE 4.6, LibreOffice, a cloud-oriented BoxGrinder appliance builder, and the availability of SystemD as the default configuration system, says the project.
