I just missed a nice webex session b/c my audio wasn’t working. I’m running ubuntu 10.10 64-bit:

When I try to activate the sound in the webex I get a message that says:
"the audio device is unaccessible"
or something along those lines. I have tried installing sun-java over openjdk and many other attempts with .java.policy files, symlinking directories, removing my .java dir, etc. From what I have read I gather that it is a bug with pulseaudio and java in ubuntu.
Does anyone know a fix for this? It is incredibly frustrating and I no longer have a windows box to use, so I am dead in the water and have another webex meeting in less than a week.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Ubuntu 10.10 is to arrive next month(10/10, of course), and if you are waiting for Canonical to jump from alpha to beta before the beginning of a look at this todays the day! download page is up, seeded torrents, and you can finally get their paws on the beta Meerkat Maverick.
The new version offers a sophisticated visual effects from the context of the default icons. Simplified installer also now has the possibility to download the MP3 decoder during the installation process giving users the ability to play popular audio format from the get-go. There is also a slick new audio menu, which displays album artwork and control playback.
Multi-touch has been added and refined Unbuntu Software Center, and some default applications have been replaced as well. Ubuntu Netbook Edition has also been overhauled, and now sports a new dock Unity and snazzy screen.
WebUpd8 published a lot of screenshots and videos that is worth seeing if you are interested in seeing what Maverick Meerkat brings to the table.

I am talking about Ubuntu 10.10 of some of the things we should see in the new release of 10.10 on October 10th as well as an up date on Mark Shuttleworth Ps..I know..I am working on the sound…dont know why its so low.. tried video editing but was not able to change it…if you know a Linux tool that would be able to help let me know.
