Just to keep things straight here, before I begin barking (without any hope of someone taking me seriously..) I need any one that reads this thread to know that I have been a PROUD Ubuntu user for at-least 5 years. (both at home and at work!)
I had switched to Ubuntu (as my main OS) from the 7.10 Gutsy release, and never looked back since then.

Ubuntu then was truly the operating system for humans… now… it looks just like it’s trying to become an OS that it is dedicated in being productive only for monkeys (with lowest IQ scores in lab-tests that have a "thing" for iPads).

I’ve been testing and tweaking and testing over and over again both the Unity and GnomeShell desktop environments trying to convince my self that they are at least functional, but there was no light in the end of the tunnel.](*,)

Why is it that every time Apple pop’s out the next i-Crap hype (almost) every one must follow?

And now, because of all this iPad(ish) hype, GNOME 2, one of the best projects in computing, probably the best conception concerning desktop environments, usability, productivity and ease of use, is getting thrown out the window… and why?… because IDIOTS LIKE IPADS!!

What scares me the most is that Gnome2 is not only getting canned from Ubuntu, but it’s actually going to be discontinued.! form every Linux distro!

Well I guess it’s time for XFCE and LXDE to shine.

This whole Unity-GnomeShell hype will eventually fade away as soon as people get bored with playing around with their iPads and decide to open up their laptops to do some work… along with it, Unity and GnomeShell projects will also fade away.

The Bottom-line to all of the above is that Unity and GnomeShell should never have been considered in becoming a Gnome2 replacement. They should have been parallel projects to Gnome2 and should have not been given that much of attention. Both systems have actually caused more damage to Linux in general than good.

… but as always, we must bow down to what-ever non-intelligent and light-headed idiots define as "slick" and "cool" that does not actually do anything productive with whatever these idiots might call a computer.

Once again, it’s time for decent desktop environments like XFCE and LXDE to shine.

PS. I would really appreciate it if anyone can make me change my mind on this.
