[all variants] Which version of Ubuntu / Lubuntu would be best? (newbie linux user)

I have an old windows xp laptop that i want to try out Linux on – the laptops main roles will be watching mpeg vids, listening to mp3s and web surfing, with some occasional light office use – the machine itself is a dual core pentium Lenovo laptop, with one gig of RAM – I’ve tried a couple of live cds out on my Windows 7 laptop – Ubuntu 13.04 and Lubuntu 12.04.03 lxle – on the newer laptop they both work easily well – my question is……. are the specs of the older machine good enough to run Ubuntu?….. or, should I go for the Lubuntu lxle which advertises itself as suitable for older machines?…. or is there another variant of ubuntu which would fit the bill better?

[lubuntu] Change Right-Alt to act as Left

Hi there. I’m currently running Lubuntu 12.04. I have recently bought a Logik keyboard from PC World that for some reason does not have a regular Left Alt key. Imagine my surprise when I discovered this. Why does a brand new keyboard not have an Alt key?
Basically, I’m looking for a quick fix to switch my Right Alt to function as Left. I do not need a third level modifier key as I only just about speak/type English as my one and only language so I can’t see me needing any ‘backwards R’s’ anytime soon.
Cheers in advance.

[lubuntu] Gnumeric rounding functions

In gnumeric, you can use mround to round to the nearest multiple of a certain numbe where x is the number and m is the multiple: for instance, if x is .28 and m is .5, then it will round to .5. But if x is .23 it will round to 0. How do I get mround to round up?
