Intel GMA3150 Graphics With Ubuntu 12.10
Intel has made lots of open-source Linux driver advancements for this latest Intel hardware — while simultaneously working on next-generation Haswell and Valley View support — but how is their support standing for much older hardware? In this article are benchmarks from an Intel Atom with GMA3150 integrated graphics.
[ubuntu] Problem with consoles and graphics
I’ve been using Ubuntu for about a year now and I’m slowly learning it’s workings. Mostly problems I solve by trial-and-error with a little help from the internet.
One problem I haven´t been able to resolve. Whenever I try to bring up a console (alt-ctrl-F1,F2, etc.) my screen goes runny white, looking almost as if it’s melting. Alt-ctrl-F7 returns me to Ubuntu without problems. This strange screen also appears when shutting down and between logging out and logging back in.
When I originally installed Ubuntu (10.10) the consoles worked fine. The problem only started after I upgraded to 11.04 and persisted after I got 11.10.
I tried fiddling around with some of the suggestions on the internet (mostly the VGA= setting in Grub, changed from ’799′ to ‘normal’), but nothing seems to have any noticable effect.
Hopefully someone can help me fix this problem. You’d make me a very happy Ubuntu-user! (Ubuntuser?
)
Thanks in advance!
Heinus Horatius.
My system:
Sony Vaio VPCF12M1E
Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit
Nvidia GeForce GT 330M – Driver 285.05.09 – Screen res. 1920×1080
[ubuntu] New natty install, graphics glitches
Should I try to reinstall or is this a simple fix?
BTW, it was installed on a Dell Dimension 9150 with an ATI gfx card.
