[kubuntu] Wireless on MacBookPro 8.2

I’d like to start using the wireless card in my MacBookPro 8.2 with (k)ubuntu 13.04. The card is not showing up in the graphical Configure->Network Connections nor is it found by ifconfig. Where do I start?

How can I use my laptop as a wireless adapter?

Pretty much what the title says. I know that I can just connect to the wireless network of interest and then turn on internet connection sharing on the ethernet port. The problem with this solution is that I ultimately want to port forward from my router to the machine that will be behind the laptop and the NAT is getting in the way. Ideally, I’d like to bridge the two interfaces but that won’t work because of MAC address issues associated with having a managed mode wlan0 on the bridge. What I’m thinking is that there must be some way to route traffic between the two interfaces. Any ideas?

[ubuntu] Errors when attempting to install RTL8712 driver for Edimax EW-7811Un wireless usb

Recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on an old Dell Inspiron 1420. The build in wireless card is flaky, so I purchased an Edimax EW-7811Un "nano" USB adapter. I downloaded the driver for it from the Realtek website, unzipped the folder, unzipped the driver folder, and attempted to install it using the sudo bash install.sh command in the terminal. However, after some installation stuff occurs, I get the error:

Any help with this would be appreciated. I am brand new to Ubuntu so go easy on the slang/skipping of "assumed" steps.

[ubuntu] Wireless not working after upgrade to 12.04

Hi,

I recently upgraded to 12.04 and now the wireless connection keeps dropping after a few seconds.
None of my other devices have a problem with my router and vice versa so I can only think it’s this latest distribution that is causing the problem.

Here are some details.

Code:

Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x / AR542x Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) [168c:001c] (rev 01)
Subsystem: Askey Computer Corp. WLL3141 (Toshiba PA3613U-1MPC) 802.11bg Wireless Mini PCIe Card [144f:7128]
        Kernel driver in use: ath5k

And here is the output from my syslog.

Code:

[ubuntu] Help with built-in wireless card

Hello,

I’m trying to figure out how to get network manager to not use my intel 3945abg (iwl3945 chipset) and instead use my more powerful d-link dwa-130 on Ubuntu 10.10 (2.6.35-22 generic)

I right click on my wireless network connection -> connection information

amongst other network info, it says:
Driver: iwl3945 (wlan0)

any ideas on how to configure it to use the rtl8187 on wlan1? I’m having difficulties finding documentation on it.

Thanks!
